Tummy tuck surgery commences with the placement
of an incision in the lower portion of the abdominal area.
In this position, the incision will be easily covered in the
future, when in scar form. Even most swimwear should cover
the scar sufficiently. The surgeon then removes any excess
fat and tissue, and tightens the abdominal muscles. The skin
is repositioned to more attractively frame the flatter abdominal
shape, excess skin is removed, and the area sutured back up.
Most patients hold off on returning to work for about 2-4
weeks after having their tummy tuck. Southern California area
doctors often recommend that strenuous activities be avoided
for at least 4-6 weeks after the surgery.
