Most people who pursue a rhinoplasty are hoping for a more
attractive nasal shape. They may have been born with a nose
that's not in proportion to other facial features, or one
that is awkwardly shaped as a result of trauma to the face.
A rhinoplasty may involve reducing or enlarging the size
of the nose, resculpting the bridge, narrowing the base,
and/or manipulating the tip for improved contour and profile.
In cases when patients experience difficulty breathing, a
rhinoplasty may be combined with a spetoplasty. This will help
clear nasal obstruction
caused by septal deviation.
Rhinoplasty is usually performed on an outpatient basis under
general anesthesia or local with sedation.
