Many of us, in spite of fitness and diet plans, retain body
areas of visible fat deposits. Often in the thighs, hips, abdomen,
upper arms, and calves, this fat can be treated through a surgical
procedure called liposuction.
A variety of
techniques may be used in performing liposuction, depending
on the situation. Methods such as tumescent liposuction, microliposuction,
and something called "superwet," offer precision and usually
involve shorter recovery time.
Liposuction is usually performed on an outpatient basis
under general anesthesia or local with sedation.
